
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Nov. 10 (UPI) -- The United States repatriated 14 Saudi nationals held at the U.S. naval detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Saturday, an interior minister said.
Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz welcomed the arrival of the former detainees and stated the commitment of the Saudi kingdom to negotiate the release of all Saudis held at Guantanamo Bay, the Kuwaiti news agency reported Saturday.
A spokesmen for the minister said the families of the former detainees were notified and reunions were being arranged, KUNA reported.
The interior minister said the detainees are subject to various rules and regulations regarding their status. He commended the United States for cooperating with Saudi Arabia on the issue of detainees.
