Canada body-parts murder victim identified
HOUSTON, Nov. 7 (UPI) -- Democrat Bill White cruised to a third term as Houston's mayor Tuesday, possibly setting the table for a run for higher office down the road.
White, 53, facing two little known opponents, pulled in 86 percent of the votes cast, the Houston Chronicle reported. He became the third straight mayor to win three consecutive terms -- Bob Lanier and Lee Brown were the others to accomplish the feat -- and is widely regarded as a potential candidate for governor of Texas in 2010 or for U.S. Senate.
A political moderate, White hasn't divulged his plans for beyond the next two years as mayor, saying only that he wants to continue in "public service," the Chronicle said.
