TAMPA, Fla., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Police are searching for a couple who disappeared last week from their home in Tampa, Fla., without a trace.

Responding to a call from concerned family members, police began searching for Trevor McGinty and Wendy Dusza after no sign of the couple was found at their apartment, The Tampa Tribune said Sunday.

Police did find the couple's cat and dog inside the apartment, a discovery that concerned family members, who said the couple loved their pets.

Hillsborough sheriff's spokesman J.D. Callaway said that fact, along with the absence of the couple's red 2006 Jeep Wrangler, has been a serious point of concern.

"We have a mystery," Callaway said.

"So we're very concerned and we have a full scale investigation and a search under way," he added.

While family members had planned on meeting up with the couple in Texas later this month, they told the Tribune that McGinty and Dusza would have found a caretaker for their pets prior to leaving.
