GALVESTON, Texas, Nov. 3 (UPI) -- Police have released sketches of a child whose body was found in a plastic box washed up on an uninhabited island off Texas.

Sketches by a police artist show a smiling girl between 2 and 3 years old with long blond hair and gaps between her teeth, the Houston Chronicle reported Saturday.

A coroner found the girl had been dead for at least two weeks and suffered from a skull fracture, said Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office, noting the case is being treated as a homicide.

A fisherman discovered the girl's body late Monday in a large blue Sterilite plastic container on an island in Galveston's West Bay, CNN reported.

Named "Baby Grace" by authorities, she was wearing a white T-shirt, a pink jacket and matching skirt and velcro-strap tennis shoes that light up. Her shoes were white and purple with pink flowers, CNN said.

"She is someone's child, someone's grandchild, someone's cousin, someone's best friend, and to us, that is the most important part about this case," Tuttoilmondo said in asking for the public's help in identifying the girl.
