Air Guard jet crashes in Missouri

ST. LOUIS, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- An Air National Guard fighter jet crashed Friday morning in Missouri after the pilot ejected safely.

The plane came down in a field in a rural area about 125 miles from St. Louis, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. The crash site is a military area.

The F-15C Eagle, a one-seat fighter jet, was flying in a four-plane formation at the time of the crash, KWMU reported. The pilot is part of the 131st Fighter Wing, based in St. Louis.

Capt. Bridgette Zorn, a spokeswoman for the Missouri Air Guard, said the cause of the crash had not been determined.
