LONDON, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The judge presiding over the London inquest into the death of Princess Diana said paparazzi who followed her on the night she died aren't expected to testify.

Justice Scott Baker told the 11 jurors Tuesday during the inquest that he is "99 percent certain" that none of the seven photographers on the witness list are going to show up and testify, The Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday.

The newspaper said statements the photographers gave to police will likely be read to the jury in lieu of direct testimony. It said the inquest may also be shown interviews with the paparazzi from a Channel 4 documentary.

One of the goals of the inquest is to determine whether the behavior of the photographers contributed to the Aug. 31, 1997, crash in Paris. Ten photographers were arrested after the crash but none were prosecuted at the end of a lengthy investigation by French authorities.
