'Combative' D.C. judge given pink slip

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- An administrative judge in Washington who unsuccessfully sued a dry cleaner for losing a pair of his pants has been fired for unrelated issues.

Roy Pearson, 57, was hand-delivered a letter Tuesday afternoon to vacate his office by 5 p.m., The Washington Post reported Wednesday.

The Commission on Selection and Tenure of Administrative Law Judges reportedly voted last week against appointing Pearson to a 10-year term after reviewing his decisions and courtroom demeanor, a source told the newspaper.

The panel found Pearson didn't demonstrate "appropriate judgment and judicial temperament" and for displaying a "combative" nature with supervisors and colleagues in his first two years, the report said.

Earlier this year, Pearson sued a dry cleaner for $54 million after a pair of pants he took in for alterations was allegedly lost. A D.C. Superior Court judge ruled in favor of the dry cleaner after Pearson was asked to provide witnesses but didn't, the Post said.
