GALVESTON, Texas, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- Police in Galveston, Texas, were trying Wednesday to learn the identity of a female toddler whose body was found in a container that washed up from the bay.

A fisherman spotted the plastic container on a tiny island along the Intracoastal waterway Tuesday and called the Galveston County Sheriff's office.

Spokesman Maj. Ray Tuttoilmondo would release few details other than to say the child had blonde hair that went to the middle of her back and that the county Medical Examiner's office reported her skull had been fractured at least once, the Galveston County Daily News reported.

Tuttoilmondo said it appeared the child had been dead about two weeks but detectives were unable to find any missing person report that could immediately be linked to the discovery.

The child was between 2 and 5 years old and stood 32-34 inches tall, police said.
