Plea deal reached in Florida 'Tase' arrest

GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- The Florida man who was zapped by a Taser during an appearance by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., will be placed on probation for the next 18 months.

Andrew Meyer, 21, wound up in the national media spotlight after imploring, “Don’t Tase me, bro,” as University of Florida police subdued him during Kerry’s appearance on the campus last month.

The Gainesville, Fla., Sun said Meyer will also donate $150 to the American Cancer Society and perform community service under the terms of the plea agreement that knocked the charges down to a pair of misdemeanors.

Meyer created a ruckus at Kerry’s appearance in Gainesville by interrupting the senator with shouted questions about the 2004 presidential election.
