JERUSALEM, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- At least three Palestinians were killed in Gaza in clashes with Israeli soldiers Friday, and a synagogue on the West Bank was burned.
The violence came as Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas prepared for another negotiating session.
The synagogue near the settlement of Dolev was burning when the congregation arrived for Friday services, Haaretz reported. Vandals also attacked a monument to a victim of the first intifada.
The fire was the second at the synagogue in 10 months. The arsonists left a torn Israeli flag behind.
Hamas reported that one of its members was killed by an Israeli air strike on Gaza. Another militant was injured.
There were two deadly clashes between the Israeli army and Hamas. In northern Gaza, two members of Hamas were killed, and two Israeli soldiers wounded. Another Hamas fighter was killed near Khan Younis in the south.
