Giuliani campaign unfazed by threats

NEW YORK, Oct. 26 (UPI) -- Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani's campaign hasn't outwardly shown concern over recently revealed threats on the former New York mayor's life.

Giuliani's security remained apparently minimal Thursday after it was revealed at a Brooklyn trial Wednesday that high ranking mob bosses had discussed putting a hit out on him when he was a federal prosecutor, New York Newsday reported Friday.

"If you have got to live with threats, you live with threats," Giuliani said last week on Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes" show. "What you don't let them do is stop you from doing what you think is right."

The discussion between Gambino crime boss John Gotti, Colombo head Carmine Persico and the remaining three members of the Cosa Nostra commission was revealed Wednesday during the Brooklyn Supreme Court trial of former FBI Agent Lindley DeVecchio, the New York Daily News reported.

"The bosses of the Lucchese, Bonanno and Genovese families rejected the idea, despite strong efforts to convince them otherwise by Gotti and Persico," DeVecchio wrote of the idea of putting a hit on Giuliani in September 1987, attributing the information to a source within in the mob.
