The reward for help leading to the conviction of whoever set the 27,000 acre Santiago fire that has destroyed at least 14 homes in Orange County grew Friday to $285,000, The Los Angeles Times reported.
"The FBI will bring to bear all of its national resources ... to make sure that we track, apprehend and put this person or persons behind bars where they belong," said FBI Special Agent Herb Brown.
Authorities have offered a reward in the Rosa fire in Riverside County.
Officials Friday said the Santiago had been determined by a task force of federal, state and local agencies to have been started by arsonists in two separate "points of origin."
Orange County Fire Authority Chief Chip Prather said at a news conference the fire was set in the perfect spot to inflict maximum damage.
"The persons or persons who did this were either exceptionally lucky or they have some knowledge about where you might want to do the most damage when you set a fire," he said.
"I wonder, frankly, if we didn't have this arson caused fire here, how many of our resources we might have had available to respond to other parts of the state."
