Iraq, Turkey discuss PKK

ANKARA, Turkey, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- An Iraqi delegation arrived Thursday in Ankara in a "last chance" attempt to avoid Turkish cross-border military operations against Kurdish nationalists.

Iraqi National Security Minister Shirwan al-Waili described the delegation as including "ministers, senior officials and heads of security institutions," al-Sharqiya TV reported.

A Turkish official said Iraq has "a last chance" to avert cross-border military operations, Alalam Satellite TV said.

The Turkish parliament approved a resolution last week that authorizes incursions into Iraq to go after the Kurdistan Workers Party or PKK. Iraq denies that its government or the government in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region have provided any aid to the PKK, but Kurdish leaders say they would oppose any Turkish forces that cross the border.
