GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 24 (UPI) -- University of Florida police officers did not violate state law when they used a Taser on a disruptive student last month, a state report found.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement report said Andrew Meyer, a student at the university, had become disruptive during a speech by U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., forcing campus police to respond, Florida's WCJB-TV, Gainesville, said Wednesday.
The report, which is more than 300 pages long, said University of Florida Police Officer Nicole Mallo used her Taser on Meyer only after he failed to comply with officers' demands.
All the officers involved in the Sept. 17 incident have already returned to work at the university, the TV station reported.
