LAGOS, Nigeria, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Seven oil workers have been released by Nigerian rebels just 24 hours after being kidnapped.

This Day reported Tuesday the employees of Elf Petroleum were turned over to officials of the Bayelsa State government the previous day.

Abductions of oil workers are a common tactic of Nigerian rebels but nevertheless are a bullish factor on world oil prices.

This Day said at about the same time the workers were released, unknown gunmen kidnapped two children of another Elf employee.
