WARSAW, Poland, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Poland’s justice minister said the country should amend its penal code to allow for the confiscation of property of organized crime convicts.

Polish Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, addressing a conference on fighting organized crime in Warsaw, urged legislators to pass the amendments as soon as possible, Polish Radio reported Thursday.

Ziobro said the law on confiscating convicted mobsters’ property would make combating organized crime more efficient. He said the state should take property in cases when illegally gained property and money are transferred to third parties, such as family members, the radio report said.
