KARACHI, Pakistan, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- Former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto's political party said she will return Thursday to Pakistan from self-exile.

The country's government has insisted that Bhutto wait to return until the Supreme Court releases a decision on a petition against Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's re-election and a law giving her amnesty, the Press Trust of India reported Monday.

But Pakistan People's Party spokeswoman Sherry Rehman said there was "no confusion" about Bhutto's plan to fly in to Karachi on Thursday.

"We have repeatedly announced that she is on schedule as per her original program," said Rehman.

Rehman also said there was "some kind of conspiracy afoot" by "insecure government circles," who are allegedly worried about the public response to Bhutto's return home. She has been in self-imposed exile since 1999.

The petition challenging the law that gives amnesty to Bhutto won't be heard in the Pakistani Supreme Court until November.
