Canada body-parts murder victim identified

VATICAN CITY, Oct. 15 (UPI) -- The archbishop of Mosul Monday denied reports two Roman Catholic priests held for ransom in Iraq have been freed.
The Rev. Mazin Esho and the Rev. Piyous Affas, from Syria, were kidnapped Saturday by gunmen in Mosul as they were heading to a funeral.
The ransom demand, estimated to be $1 million, is a "figure which we cannot afford," Archbishop of Mosul Baile George Casmoussa told missionary agency MISNA, AIG reported from Vatican City.
KUNA, Kwait's news agency, quoting local sources in Iraq, had reported Monday the priests had been freed.
Meanwhile, Pope Benedict XVI asked the kidnappers to free the priests during his traditional Sunday blessing in St. Peter's Square.
