JERUSALEM, Oct. 14 (UPI) -- Israeli Attorney General Menachem Mazuz ordered two new misconduct inquiries to be launched to look into Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's political past.

Mazuz's order Sunday was focused on investigating Olmert's time as Israeli industry, trade and labor minister, and accusations made against him regarding alleged appointment illegalities, Ynetnews reported.

Olmert has been accused of using his labor post to appoint unqualified individuals to key positions in the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority.

The current prime minister has been investigated previously for his alleged involvement in a real estate scam and for his role in the privatization of Bank Leumi.

After hearing of Mazuz's orders, Knesset Member Ophir Pines-Paz said Olmert's increasing legal woes would likely soon cost him his ministerial post.

"It is doubtful that the prime minister can maintain his post due to the multiple investigations against him. Never have there been four simultaneous police investigations being pursued against a single State official in Israel," he told Ynetnews.
