BAIDOA, Somalia, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- A suicide bomber struck at an Ethiopian base in Somalia, killing three soldiers.
The Ethiopian troops were garrisoned in a former detergent factory in Baidoa, Shabelle Media Network said. The prime minister of the Somali transitional government was staying in a hotel nearby at the time of the strike.
Also Wednesday, Sheik Abdurahman Shire, a prominent Islamic cleric, was shot dead in the port of Kismayu. The sheik was ambushed by a group of men armed with AK-47s and pistols.
