NEW YORK, Oct. 12 (UPI) -- Conservative commentator Ann Coulter said on a national TV show the nation would be better off if all Americans, including Jews, converted to Christianity.

During CNBC's "The Big Idea," host Donny Deutsch asked Coulter to present her version of a better America, CBS News reported Friday. She said it would look like New York City during the 2004 Republican National Convention.

Asked to explain, Coulter said, "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America."

"Christian ... so we should be Christian?" Deutsch, who is Jewish, asked. "It would be better if we were all Christian?"

"Yes," Coulter answered.

According to a show transcript, Deutsch asked, "(We) should just throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians ..." .

"Yeah," Coulter said.

When asked if she believed what she said, Coulter said she did.

"We just want Jews to be perfected, as they say," Coulter said later in the show.

Deutsch told AdWeek he asked her to be on the show to discuss her brand strategy.
