KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 11 (UPI) -- A computer expert suggested Thursday that a woman who allegedly killed an expectant mother in Missouri to get a baby stole an ultrasound from the Internet.
Lisa Montgomery could face the death penalty if she is convicted of killing Bobbie Jo Stinnett.
Mark Johnson, who formerly worked for the U.S. attorney's office as a computer forensic examiner, testified at Montgomery's trial in federal court that her computer was used to search for ultrasound images, The Kansas City Star reported. He also said that the computer was used to change an ultrasound image so that it bore Montgomery's name and that of a local hospital.
Montgomery, who knew Stinnett from their mutual interest in breeding rat terriers, allegedly killed her in her home in Skidmore, Mo., and cut her baby from her womb. She then returned to her home in Melvern, Kansas, with the baby.
Earlier in the trial, Montgomery's husband said that he believed she was pregnant, while her ex-husband said that he had threatened to tell her husband that she was faking.
