KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- The ex-husband and current husband of a Missouri woman accused of killing an expectant mother to get her baby testified Tuesday at her trial.
Carl Boman told a jury in federal court in Kansas City he had warned his ex-wife, Lisa Montgomery, he would use her lies about being pregnant to get custody of their children, The Kansas City Star reported. Kevin Montgomery testified he believed his wife was pregnant and had given birth, and only realized something was wrong when police showed up at their home.
Defense attorneys say Montgomery was out of her mind when she went to Bobbie Jo Stinnett’s home in Skidmore, Mo., in December 2004, killed her and cut out the baby, which she then attempted to pass off as her own. The baby survived.
Boman testified he and Montgomery had a phone conversation the day before Stinnett was killed.
“She said that she was going to show me,” he said.
