Politics 2012: Ron Paul strategy keeps things interesting

HASHKANITA, Sudan, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Human rights activists Wednesday called for a ceasefire between Sudan government troops and rebel fighters in Darfur to save civilians caught in the crossfire.
Human Rights Watch, an international group based in New York, said the civilian population in Darfur is bearing the brunt of the fighting, with thousands displaced from the towns of Hashkanita and Muhajaria this month. A new round of peace talks in Tripoli, Libya, is still weeks away.
“This is not the first time we’ve seen the warring parties talking about peace while launching new attacks on civilians,” said Peter Takirambudde, Africa director at Human Rights Watch. “The lack of concern for the civilian population is appalling.”
