Iran announces new smart bomb

TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Iran announced the development of a new smart bomb it says has been tested with Iranian fighter jets.

Officials describe the 2,000-pound Ghadr, or Power, bomb as a new version of the Qased, or Messenger. The Ghadr is a guided optical bomb, the Fars News Agency said..

The Ghadr was test-fired during August war games, PressTV reported.

The defense minister said the development of the Ghadr means Iran has joined the countries capable of manufacturing precision missile technology.
