Riders were stranded 10 stories high Saturday night, supported by harnesses with nothing beneath their feet, The Washington Post reported Sunday.

The ride was just beginning when it locked up, forcing workers to manually bring the ride back to its starting point, which caused the ride to jolt and a hydraulic line to break, spraying some riders with fluid, The Post reported.

About a dozen people complained of what appeared to be minor neck and back problems, while two asked to be examined at a hospital.

The ride had been thoroughly inspected after freezing up last month, said Karin Korpowski, a park spokeswoman.

"I can assure you that we do not open any of our rides unless they are safe," Korpowski said.

The same roller coaster stalled in July 2003, stranding riders high above ground for two hours.
