MI6 in Paris at the time of Diana's death

LONDON, Oct. 4 (UPI) -- The jury at the London inquest into the deaths of Diana, Princess of Wales, and Dodi Fayed has been told that MI6 agents were in Paris at the time of the crash.

The father of Diana's boyfriend Dodi Fayed, Mohamed Fayed, claims MI6 officers used stun guns to cause Henri Paul, the driver of the car carrying the couple, to crash into a pillar in a Paris road tunnel on the night of Aug. 31, 1997, The Independent reported Thursday.

Fayed also claimed Paul was an MI6 agent and was falsely reported to have been drunk at the time of the accident due to evidence tampering by British agents.

The coroner, Lord Justice Scott Baker, said security camera footage taken at the Ritz hotel on the night of the crash show Paul to be acting soberly, despite later medical evidence that found his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit for British drivers. He also told the jury that French police searched Paul's home twice and on the second visit they found more alcohol than was reported after the first visit.

He said there was "no obvious explanation for this." Baker instructed the jury to "consider whether there is any sinister implication."
