FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A network television sports producer was jailed in Florida for allegedly making arrangements in an Internet chat room to film himself having sex with a child.
Police say Daniel Barron, a sports producer for CBS, actually was chatting with an undercover St. Lucie County Sheriff’s detective conducting a sting operation. Barron, 56, was arrested Saturday evening when he showed up at a parking lot in Fort Lauderdale allegedly thinking he was going to meet an 11-year-old girl and her father, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.
Barron, of Boonton Township, N.J., was in Florida to cover Sunday’s Miami Dolphins game and reportedly used his CBS-owned laptop to set up the clandestine sexual encounter, the Sun-Sentinel said.
He was held at the Broward County Jail on $75,000 bond.
