Prostitution ring broken in Florida

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Federal agents say Central American women are being smuggled into Florida and forced into prostitution.

Agents arrested two men accused of heading operations in Tampa and Jacksonville, Fla., as well as two Colombian immigrants accused of driving and housing the women in Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Times-Union said Wednesday.

The men are charged with importing, transporting and harboring illegal aliens for prostitution and financial gain.

An arrest affidavit said the women were brought to Florida as maids or bartenders but were forced into prostitution at apartment complexes in Jacksonville, Tampa, Tallahassee and Orlando, the newspaper said.
