ATLANTIC CITY, N.J., Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort reached a $1.2 million settlement with a woman who said she was hurt in the collapse of one of the New Jersey resort's toilets.
The Press of Atlantic City (N.J.) reported Saturday that 74-year-old Jean Ciocci agreed to settle her suit, in which she claimed to have been injured when a handicapped-accessible toilet collapsed at the resort in 2004.
Ciocci's attorney, Daniel J. Mann, praised the resort for acting responsible regarding the incident.
"I think the Trump casino behaved responsibly in terms of recognizing that the toilet wasn't properly mounted and by offering a fair settlement in this case," Mann said Friday.
The suit also alleged that injuries that Ciocci suffered to her left arm during the toilet's collapse caused her to suffer another debilitating injury nearly two years later.
Ciocci had lost her balance at a Pennsylvania social club on April 5, 2006, and was unable to break her fall due to her injury, the suit alleged.
The newspaper said that the Taj Mahal did not accept responsibility for that accident, which resulted in Ciocci breaking her left humerus bone.
