JENA, La., Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Deputies have stepped up patrols around the homes of six black teenagers charged in the beating of a white schoolmate in Jena, La.

FBI agents also are investigating whether a neo-Nazi Web site violated federal law when it listed the addresses and phone numbers of the six students and encouraged readers to "get in touch, and let them know justice is coming," The Washington Post reported Saturday.

LaSalle Parish Sheriff Carl Smith said his deputies would remain vigilant in light of Thursday's Web posting, but he has not encouraged the teenagers and their families to move elsewhere.

"We don't want to make people feel like they are under siege," Smith said Friday.

Meanwhile, a judge Friday declined to release Mychal Bell, the only teenager still jailed and the only one to have been tried for the December incident. Bell remained jailed after an appeal's court dismissed his conviction, ruling he could not be tried as an adult because he was 16 at the time of the beating.
