Officer placed on leave for Taser use

WARREN CITY, Ohio, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- An Ohio police officer was placed on paid leave after he allegedly shocked a woman with a Taser seven times, including twice after she was handcuffed.

Video of the Sept. 2 incident shows Warren City Police Officer Rich Kovach repeatedly using a stun gun on Heidi Gill, 38, after Kovach responded to a bar fight in which Gill was alleged to be out of control, CNN reported Saturday.

The video was taken by the dashboard camera in Kovach's police cruiser.

"You're going to walk to that car or you're going to be Tasered again," Kovach is heard telling Gill after she cracked a window in one cruiser with her feet and was being transferred to another cruiser.

After being electrically shocked the seventh time, Gill fell and hit her head on the pavement and was treated at a hospital, Kovach wrote in his report.

Gill, who could not be reached for comment, has pleaded not guilty to felony assault, resisting arrest, criminal damaging and vehicle trespass.
