ATHENS, Greece, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis Wednesday warned his deputy ministers against speaking out publicly without the blessing of their bosses.

"Too much television, too many statements, too much public speaking is seriously harmful," Karamanlis said at the first meeting of his newly sworn-in Cabinet.

He also cautioned his ministers against any freelancing, noting it is their responsibility to support the government's strategy in a united manner, the Athens News Agency reported. He said "personal strategies" would not be tolerated.

In setting a disciplined tone for his administration, Karamanlis instructed the ministries to be in ongoing communication with New Democracy members of Parliament, who he said "function as a solid fist against problems." He said he would be keeping a close eye on all areas of the government and would pop in at the various ministries regularly, the agency reported.

A total of 152 New Democracy members were elected to Parliament in weekend elections.
