BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Eleven years after the University of Colorado banned beer sales at its football games it has done the same thing for its basketball games venue.
The only exception at Coors Arena -- named after the beer company -- is in private suites, The Boulder Camera reported.
"We will be implementing the same policy that we have at Folsom Field," CU athletic director Mike Bohn said. "We won't be offering beer for sale to the general public."
Beer sales were banned at Folsom Field in 1996 for a two-year trial. The ban was then made permanent, although private suites are an exception.
Colorado had been the only school in the Big 12 Conference to continue to allow beer sales during basketball games. No schools now allow beer to be sold during football games.
