Bulgaria car crash kills woman, 2 children

SOFIA, Bulgaria, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- A mother and her two children were killed when a horse-pulled cart they were riding in was hit by a car on a road in central Bulgarian.

The mare and the colt pulling the cart, which had no signal lights, were also killed in the accident late Monday night near the Lyubenova Mahala village, the Bulgarian Sofia News Agency reported Tuesday.

The 23-year-old woman and two children aged 2 and 3, were declared dead at the scene. The woman's 3-month-old baby survived the collision with minor injuries.

Two men in the cart were injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

A woman driving the car that struck the horse-drawn cart was alcohol-free on a police blood test, the agency said.
