WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- A U.S. delegation, part of an international survey group, arrived in North Korea Tuesday to begin its walk-through of a nuclear facility.
The seven-member team, made up of representatives of the U.S. State Department, the National Security Council and the Department of Energy, are "the expert types rather than ... the policy types," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said during a news briefing.
North Korea invited Russian, Chinese and U.S. representatives to survey the country's nuclear sites as part of the country's move toward nuclear disarmament. The three are participants in the six-party talks, which also include Japan, and North and South Korea.
When asked how this inspection differed from inspections by the International Atomic Energy Agency, McCormick said the three countries "have experience with nuclear weapons facilities" and can offer recommendations about disabling a facility.
