JAKARTA, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The head of Bali's police said the three men on death row for the 2002 terror bombings on the Indonesian tourist island should be executed in his jurisdiction.
Inspector General Paulus Purwoko said the execution can proceed since the Supreme Court has refused to review the death sentence of the three identified as Amrozy, Imam Samudra and Ali Gufron, Antara news agency reported Monday.
He said the executions, if carried out in Bali, would help improve Indonesia’s image abroad, the report said.
"We are ready to carry out their execution anywhere we are ordered to," he told reporters.
He said it hasn't yet been decided whether the three would be put to death in Central Java, where they are being held, or on Bali.
The October 2002 bombings killed 202 people, most of them foreign nationals, and injured more than 200 others.
