SEOUL, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- International nuclear experts have reportedly set a Dec. 31st deadline to spell out details on disabling North Korea's nuclear facilities.
An international team of nuclear experts is to visit North Korea this week to advance talks on disabling the country's main plant in Yongbyon.
Representatives of the United States, Russia, China, and South Korea are to arrive in North Korea Tuesday, ?South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported.
A deal reached in February gives North Korea 1 million tons of heavy fuel oil in exchange for shutting down, and eventually disabling, its nuclear facilities. The inspectors are to make several nuclear site visits this fall in ongoing talks aimed at reaching a year-end consensus on disabling the facilities.
North Korea is believed to have nuclear bombs and the radioactive material needed to make more, Yonhap reported, noting North Korea claimed to have conducted its first nuclear bomb test in October 2006.
