PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 7 (UPI) -- A self-professed pedophile who fled California for Oregon should be considered dangerous, said a therapist who treats sex offenders.

Jack McClellan, 45, appeared on several media outlets in California talking about his sexual interest in small children. He said the subsequent "harassment" led him to leave California, where he had moved in May after leaving Washington state for similar reasons.

He continued to give interviews about his attractions when he settled in Portland, Ore. He has not been charged with any crime.

However, his apparent attitude and lack of embarrassment are precursors to acting out sex crimes, Cynthia Steinhauser, a Portland therapist, who called McClellan's "unabashed arrogance" particularly alarming, told The Oregonian in Portland.

Some Oregonians have said they will try to follow California's lead in obtaining a restraining order against McClellan to ban him from being near children. That may be difficult, however, since McClellan has violated no law in Oregon, said Willamette University law Professor Norman Williams.
