Eleven U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Sept. 7 (UPI) -- The number of U.S. troops killed in Iraq during the first week of September rose to 22 Friday with news of 11 more deaths.

Four Marines died in Anbar province, the Sunni-dominated territory west of Baghdad, and seven U.S. Army soldiers were killed by roadside bombs in Nineveh in northern Iraq, the Kuwait News Agency, KUNA, reported Friday.

Three Iraqi civilians were killed and five were wounded Thursday in an attack on a mosque in Kirkuk and coalition forces killed six suspected insurgents and arrested 25 others in raids in Tarmiya, Samarra, Tikrit, near Baquba and Kirkuk, CNN reported.
