CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Aug. 25 (UPI) -- The investigation into last spring’s shootings at Virginia Tech University has been completed and will be released to the public Thursday.
The Washington Post said Saturday the finishing touches were made behind closed doors to the 300-page report on the April 16 shooting spree that left 33 people dead, including the gunman.
Gov. Timothy Kaine will get the first look at the report early this coming week.
The document includes 70 recommendations on issues that include mental-health services and privacy protections. The aftermath of the slayings revealed school officials were alarmed at shooter Sueng Hui Cho’s mental status, but were unable to force him into treatment or alert police due to privacy laws.
