LIVERPOOL, England, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A security camera captured an image of the killer of an 11-year-old boy who was gunned down in Liverpool, British police said Saturday.

A young woman told The Observer she was only a few feet away when Rhys Jones was shot Wednesday.

“(The killer) looked over at me, right into my face, then fired two more shots,“ said the woman, who did not want her name used.

Chief Superintendent Chris Armitt of the Merseyside Police said the film from CCTV cameras was being enhanced to improve the image. Police said they were searching for a suspect.

Police arrested seven teenagers, two of them girls, in connection with the case. All live in the neighborhoods bordering Croxteth Park where the shooting took place.

Rhys had been playing soccer with friends.

Saturday’s match between Everton and Blackburn Rovers turned into a tribute to the young fan. Members of both teams wore black armbands, and Stephen Jones, the dead boy’s father, and his older brother, Owen, attended the game.
