SDEROT, Israel, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Israeli forces said they wiped out a Hamas rocket-launcher crew Monday amid a flare-up of cross-border attacks near the Gaza Strip.

Six Hamas guerrillas were reported killed by Israeli troops who opened fire on their vehicle near the Gaza village of al-Bereij, IsraelNN.com said.

The six were believed to have been involved in an earlier launch of Kassam rockets at nearby Israeli towns.

Scattered incidents of Kassams and mortar rounds being lobbed into Israel from Gaza continued Monday. IsraelNN.com said such incidents spiked higher over the weekend and continued into Monday as a pair of rockets hit near Sderot, causing no casualties.
