LONDON, Aug. 19 (UPI) -- A missing toddler's parents plan to return to Britain because they no longer can take accusations they had a role in her disappearance, it was reported.
Gerry and Kate McCann, the parents of Madeleine McCann, could leave Praia da Luz, Portugal, as early as next month, Britain's Sunday Times reported Sunday.
The McCanns told The Times they feel driven from Portugal by their treatment in the Portuguese press, which has speculated four-year-old Madeleine was killed in their vacation apartment in Praia da Luz and the McCanns and their friends are under suspicion.
The McCanns said their decision also was influenced by their concern for their two-year-old twins, Sean and Amelie, who have been told their sister is missing. Madeleine disappeared in May from the family's apartment while her parents were having dinner in a nearby restaurant, the McCanns have said.
