ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A 72-year-old Kansas minister suffered a stroke when he was left outside an Orlando, Fla., airport in a wheelchair for three days.

The family of Kenneth Davis said they lost contact with the minister after he traveled to Orlando for a gospel conference, WKMG-TV, Orlando, reported Friday.

They said he asked for assistance after his flight to Florida because he wasn't feeling well and Orlando International Airport employees placed him in a wheelchair and rolled him to the outside curb, where he remained from Monday night until he was found by Orlando police Thursday, the television station said.

"No one noticed," Davis' daughter Melinda, said. "(He was found) curbside of the sidewalk where you catch a taxi, where people walk by. Several people walked by."

The family said Davis, who is recovering in a hospital, is barely able to speak.

"He is alive but unfortunately he did suffer a stroke and we feel like it contributed a lot to him being in the heat," son Kenneth Davis told WKMG-TV.

An investigation has been opened into the incident.
