Casino investigates loan shark claim

AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A New Zealand casino says it is investigating allegations that casino workers are helping loan sharks find gamblers who need money.

ONE News said it found two gamblers who claimed they were introduced to loan sharks by employees at Auckland Sky City casino. The two gamblers said they are now afraid for their lives.

Elmar Toime, acting chief executive officer of the casino, said security is very tight at Sky City, but he plans to investigate the allegations, TVNZ said Thursday.
