FARMINGTON, Utah, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- For the third day in a row, firefighters in Farmington Canyon, Utah, are fighting a blaze that has already burned 700 acres and is barely contained.
The 80 firefighters had the blaze around 5 percent contained Monday but were confident that people evacuated from their homes Sunday would soon be able to return, the Salt Lake Tribune reported Monday.
"Things are looking good," said Kathy Jo Pollock, National Forest Service spokeswoman.
Crews said they hoped to have the fire completely under control by Tuesday or Wednesday.
"There's still plenty of oak up there (to burn)," said Robert Sanders, assistant fire management officer for the Wasatch-Cache National Forest and incident commander on the fire.
In addition to the crews, there are four helicopters fighting the blaze from above as well as two single-engine air tankers on standby.
