Teacups Puppies and Boutique, which sells the tiny toy-breed dogs to the rich and famous -- like singer Whitney Houston and actress Mandy Moore -- was broken into Saturday, The Miami Herald reported Sunday.
Owner Eleonora Bonfini arrived to find a broken window, damaged doors, a bloody floor and an injured puppy. The thief was caught on video accidentally dropping several puppies before he left the store.
Police collected blood and fingerprint samples from the crime scene, along with the video.
Toy-breed Chihuahuas are fragile, Bonfini said, and prone to dehydration. They can also become hypoglycemic because of their size, she said, and if the robber doesn’t know “how to take care of that they will kill them.”
Bonfini is offering a $5,000 reward for the puppies, which are valued at $1,500 each.
