AURORA, Ill., Aug. 12 (UPI) -- A West Dundee, Ill., woman was in police custody, accused of attacking her husband's two lizards to get back at him for allegedly beating her.

The Elgin (Ill.) Courier News said Sunday that 37-year-old Sara Tinsley was indicted by a grand jury last week on charges she stabbed one of the lizards and threw the other one against a wall.

Police said Tinsley threw the lizards in a garbage can, during an incident that followed a heated argument with her husband over the phone April 2.

Police said they found the animals in the refuse container that day while responding to a complaint of a domestic altercation.

Also on that day, Tinsley's husband turned himself in to face a misdemeanor charge of battery, police said.

The alleged attack left one lizard dead, but a veterinarian was able to save the iguana that had been stabbed, the newspaper said.
