YA'AN CITY , China, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- At least 10 people were killed in southwest China late Friday when a mudflow crashed into a hydroelectric power plant during a torrential rainstorm.

Two people were missing after rocks and mud plowed through the site where the plant was being built, sweeping away a group of construction workers as they tried to escape.

China’s Xinhua news agency said dozens of police officers and soldiers were searching for the missing men in Sichuan Province.

Heavy rains were predicted to continue in the area.
